Best Salt Lake City Venues for a Casino-Themed Event

After two decades of staffing casino parties across the Wasatch Front, we have strong opinions about which venues make casino setups sing — and which ones look great in photos but punish your load-in budget, especially in winter. Here are twelve we recommend without reservation, with the details that matter when you’re picking a room for tables, dealers, and 100+ guests.

Hotel ballrooms

Grand America Hotel (Downtown Salt Lake City)

The flagship luxury hotel downtown. The Grand Ballroom holds 400–700 guests with room for 15–25 casino tables. Excellent freight access from the loading dock, experienced banquet staff, and the kind of high-ceiling, gilded room that photographs casino tables beautifully. Our most-booked hotel venue for large corporate galas. Holiday and Sundance-week dates fill by summer.

Little America Hotel (Downtown)

The Grand Ballroom here is one of the largest hotel ballrooms in the city, holding 200–500 guests cleanly and far more for cocktail-style events. Strong load-in logistics, a professional banquet team, and a classic downtown backdrop just across the street from its sister property. Convenient covered load-in that matters when winter weather rolls in.

Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City (Downtown)

The newest convention hotel downtown, connected to the Salt Palace. Modern ballrooms hold 200–450 reception-style with sweeping city and mountain views. More contemporary than the older grande dames, with a professional events team and easy back-of-house freight access. A top pick for tech and Silicon Slopes corporate clients.

Marriott City Center (Downtown)

A flexible downtown business hotel with floor-to-ceiling windows and a polished ballroom holding up to 400 reception-style. Load-in via the back-of-house freight elevator. One of the top corporate-event hotels in the city with an enthusiastic events team — and walkable to the light rail for out-of-town guests.

Dedicated event venues

The Grand Hall at The Gateway (Downtown)

A striking historic hall in the heart of The Gateway district. The open, high-ceilinged space holds 200+ for reception-style events. Load-in is via the service entrance; coordinate on table logistics for the open floor. Casino nights here under the vaulted ceiling photograph like nothing else. Wedding and milestone birthday clients love this venue.

La Caille (Sandy)

A legendary French-country estate at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy. The chateau and grounds hold up to 350 guests, and the vineyard terraces work beautifully for a 4–8 table casino setup paired with cocktails. Excellent for upscale corporate events, milestone birthdays, and smaller wedding receptions. Note winter access up the canyon road.

The Leonardo (Downtown)

A sleek museum-and-event space downtown with a sophisticated, design-forward aesthetic. The gallery and rooftop event spaces hold 150–250 guests. The contemporary interiors make casino setups feel chic and current. Load-in is straightforward via the loading area. A favorite for tech and creative-industry corporate events that want something other than a traditional ballroom.

Salt Palace Convention Center (Downtown)

The largest event space in the state. The exhibit halls hold 500–2,000+ for cocktail-style events. Ideal for large nonprofit galas, government agency events, and major corporate conferences with a casino element. We’ve staffed 20+ table casino floors here. Excellent freight loading; professional venue staff; connected to the Hyatt Regency for out-of-town attendees.

Unique venues

Utah Cultural Celebration Center (West Valley City)

West Valley’s civic event complex with multiple halls and open galleries. The exhibition spaces hold 150–1,500 for cocktail events. The flexible, open layout makes casino setups easy to lay out at scale. Load-in is through the main service entrances. Popular for community fundraisers, association galas, and large corporate events that want an affordable, roomy space with easy parking.

Red Butte Garden (The Avenues / University area)

A stunning botanical garden in the foothills above the University of Utah. The outdoor terraces and indoor visitor center hold 150–400 for reception-style events. Casino nights here against the Wasatch backdrop are some of our most memorable. A weather backup plan is required for shoulder seasons; we coordinate with the venue on tent setup.

Log Haven (Millcreek Canyon)

A historic mountain lodge tucked up Millcreek Canyon with waterfalls and pine forest all around. Casino nights here under the timber beams are intimate and unforgettable. Holds 120–250. In winter, confirm the canyon-road plow schedule and load-in timing — we plan mountain load-ins around the weather.

Private Avenues, Holladay & Park City Estates

Many homeowners in The Avenues, Federal Heights, Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, Emigration Canyon, Draper, Daybreak, and Park City host 50–150 guest casino nights on their decks or in custom event tents. Some of our most personalized events. We handle table delivery, setup, and layout around whatever the property allows — and we know how to plan a winter load-in on a steep foothill driveway. Send us your address and we’ll tell you what fits.

What makes a venue great for casino setups

  • Freight elevator or ground-floor load-in. Casino tables weigh 120–240 lbs each. Stairs — and icy driveways — slow everything down.
  • Open floor area. You need 10′ × 10′ per table. A room broken up by columns or fixed furniture is harder to set.
  • Power access. Only matters if you’re adding slot machines or DJ-style emcee equipment.
  • Coat check and bag storage. Casino events run 3–4 hours, and in ski season everyone arrives in a parka — guests want their coats stored.
  • Adequate lighting. Too dim and dealers can’t see chips. Too bright and the room loses atmosphere. Look for venues with dimmable wash lighting.

Our venue rolodex

The above is a starting point. We’ve also worked Montage Deer Valley, Stein Eriksen Lodge, Snowbird & Alta lodges, Sundance Mountain Resort, This Is The Place Heritage Park, and hundreds of private estates from West Valley City and West Jordan to Sugar House, Millcreek, Ogden, Provo, and Park City. If you have a venue in mind, ask — we’ve almost certainly run a casino night there.
